About Us

We are the first Muslim Scouts group in Rochdale to actively engage and support young people in their personal development. Open to all, we inspire young people to have fun, make new friends & have life changing adventures. We aim to empower the young people to have new experiences and activities and to get them out of their comfort zones. With a ‘You can do!’ attitude to learning we allow children to build resilience and confidence whilst earning badges.

Some of the opportunities include cooking, hiking, camping, climbing, canoeing, team building & leadership. First aid, map reading, gardening, astronomy and observing Allah’s patterns in nature. The list is endless and the best part is we let our young people tell us what they would like to experience.  We offer opportunities for them to help become the best versions of themselves. Parent volunteers & leaders also enjoy learning new skills and making a positive contribution to society.

Our Sections

At 5th Pennine Scouts, we run two exciting and welcoming sections for young people: Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Both offer a fun, active and supportive environment where children can make friends, learn new skills, and enjoy real adventure every week.

Beavers (Ages 6–8)

Beavers is the perfect introduction to Scouting. Our young members get stuck into hands‑on activities, simple practical skills, games, crafts, and plenty of outdoor fun. They start earning badges, build confidence, and learn to work together — all while having a brilliant time. It’s all about trying new things, making new friends, and beginning their Scouting journey with excitement and curiosity.

Cubs (Ages 8–10½)

Cubs take things up a level with more adventurous activities, from hikes and team challenges to learning practical skills and taking part in camps. They work towards a wide range of badges, learn independence, and grow their confidence through fun, friendship and new experiences. Cubs is all about developing skills for life while having unforgettable adventures with their pack.

Scouts (Ages 10½–14)

Scouts enjoy even bigger adventures. From camping and cooking to navigation, teamwork, and outdoor challenges, Scouts learn practical skills that prepare them for life. They take part in exciting activities, work towards badges and awards, and build resilience, leadership, and confidence along the way. Scouts is where young people push themselves, try new things, and create memories that last a lifetime.

In 2026, we will launch our Explorer Section (ages 14–18), creating a full pathway for young people to grow into future leaders.
